  • Do I really need a Real Estate Agent?

I'm sure buyers and sellers of Real Estate must ask this question often, especially when it's time to pay the commission. The truth is how can you get involved in a Real Estate Transaction without a Real Estate Sales Representative, honestly there is way to much money on the table to take the risk. Home Buyers in Ottawa don't pay a commission when they purchase a property from the MLS with a Real Estate agent, so why wouldn't they take advantage of this fact. An objective third party proffesional with liability insurance can save you from making a very costly mistake. Remember it is not the Sellers goal to give the best deal or be fair. The Sellers goal is to get as much as they possibly can and have a closing date that is most convenient to them. Sometimes it's good just to have an objective party who is not emotionally involved in the deal to keep things "grounded". Some buyers once engaged in the negotiation process fall victim to psycologically moving furniture into the property and thus lose their objectivity. This loss of focus can be costly.
