Condominiums are a form of ownership not a style of construction, most people recognize a condo as a high rise apartment however it can also come in the form of townhouse complex, terrace home, detached home, semi-detached and low-rise apartment. Condominiums consist of two parts the first is the private dwelling registered in the name of the buyer and the second element is the shared spaces or common elements which include hallways, elevators, lobbies, recreation facilities, walkways, exterior walls, roof, windows, furnace etc. Common elements may also include other structural, electrical, and mechanical elements. The ownership, maintenance and replacement of the common elements is shared by the individual unit owners.
